SCHOHARIE - Alma M. Burger 93, of Schoharie, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at her son's home in West Oneonta.
Mrs. Burger was born July 30, 1923, in the Town of Wright, a daughter of John and Catherine (Wrede) Eggers.
She was valedictorian of the graduating class in 1941 at Schoharie School and worked briefly for General Electric and Schoharie County.
She was a devoted wife and mother and very proud of her home which she maintained herself, living independently to the end.
She was a longtime member of the Schoharie United Presbyterian Church, served as a deacon and was active in the Wiawaka Ladies Group. She was also a member of the Schoharie Garden Club, the 50 Plus Club and volunteered with Scho-Wright Ambulance Service.
An avid Yankees fan, Alma also enjoyed bowling, gardening, sewing and doing alterations for many groups and individuals.
She was first married to Vincent Lawyer who predeceased her in 1961 and later, to Louis Burger, who predeceased her in 1997.
Survivors include her sons, Scott W. (Barbara Baldo) Burger of West Oneonta, Jeff V. (Linda) Burger of Waterbury Center, Vermont; five grandchildren, Lindsey, Stefanie, Jared, Alexis, and Kyle; two great-grandchildren, Lennox and Rowan; one sister, Edna Bunzey of Berne; along with several nieces and nephews.
Alma was predeceased by siblings, Ruth Tittlebaum, Anne Miller, Ernie Eggers, Jack Eggers and Elsie Siefer.
Calling hours will be from 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, July 22, at the Langan Funeral Home, 327 Main St., Schoharie, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Middleburgh Cemetery followed by fellowship in the church hall at the Schoharie United Presbyterian Church. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Burger to the Schoharie United Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 340, Schoharie, NY 12157.
