Anna J.'s Story
SLOANSVILLE - Anna J. Hollenbeck 70, of Sloansville, died Thursday July 13, 2017, at her home following a brief illness.
Anna was born Aug. 17, 1946 in Charlotteville, a daughter of David Burton Merwin and Laura Bell (Effner).
She was raised in Charlotteville and attended Jefferson School before meeting her husband, Kerrie ,who she married on June 25, 1961. They resided in Stamford and Worcester before moving to Sloansville in 1969.
Anna worked at Westheimer's Carrot Barn, Loratech and also Coleco's but was most devoted as a mother to her three children. She assisted with the operation of the family junkyard business, enjoyed caring for her animals and garden and was also a talented artist.
On Feb. 24, 2008, she was predeceased by her husbandm, Kerrie D. "Tiny" Hollenbeck.
Survivors include her children, Laura (William) VanWormer of Cobleskill, Kerrie D. "Wimpy" Hollenbeck Jr. and Kenneth K. Hollenbeck, both of Sloansville; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her brother, David Burton Merwin Jr. of Cobleskill; several nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by her siblings, Elizabeth, Lucille, Shirley, William, Ethel, Jenny, Alice; and two infants.
Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, July 21, at the Langan Funeral Home, 195 North Main St., Central Bridge, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the Sloansville Valley Cemetery.
