COOPERSTOWN - Anna "Ann" Kenney, 94, died Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at Cooperstown Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing, following a long period of infirmity.
Born Sept. 30, 1923, in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of Joseph and Catherine (Brown) Hallock.
She married Francis E. Kenney in 1941, and they moved to the Cooperstown area to raise their family in the mid 1950's.
Ann was employed for a number of years at Astrocom in Portlandville and thereafter and again for many years, in the coffee shop at the Otesaga Hotel, retiring in the mid 1980's. She was known to many as "Cheesecake Anne," in recognition of her baking talent.
She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years Francis E. Kenney on Oct. 4, 2002; her sons, Francis R. (Richard) Kenney and John Shulkie; and brothers Albert, Henry and Francis Hallock.
She is survived by her children, Catherine (Phillip) Moore of Cherry Valley, Barbara (Donald) Ende of Cobleskill, Diane (Warren) Bunn of Earlville, Joseph (Cricket) Kenney of Cooperstown, Patricia (Dennis) Cohen of Portlandville; daughter-in-law, Janet Shulkie of Toddsville; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 14, at Tillapaugh Funeral Home, 28 Pioneer St., Cooperstown. Graveside services will be held in the spring at the time of burial in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Index.
The family wishes to specifically thank the employees of Catskill Area Hospice for their loving and always kind care to Ann.
