Antone "Tony"'s Story
FLY CREEK - Antone "Tony" Cop, 96, died peacefully Friday, June 30, 2017, at Chase Memorial Nursing Home in New Berlin following a long illness.
Born May 29, 1921, in Croatia, he was the son of John and Rose (Turk) Cop.
Prior to moving to moving to the United States and settling in Fork Shop, between Toddsville and Fly Creek in 1930, he and his family lived in France for six years.
Tony graduated from Cooperstown High School with the Class of 1940. Thereafter, he owned and operated his business, "Cop's Garage" in Fork Shop, where he was self-employed as an auto mechanic for many years.
He is survived by his sisters, Rosemary Fisher of Mesa, Arizona; and many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Jean E. Cop in 2008 and Albina C. Konchar in 2016.
Burial and committal services for Tony in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Index, will be private.
Arrangements are under the guidance of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown.
