ROANOKE, Va. - Arthur Mitchell Hitt, 67 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, in Roanoke, Virginia.
Art was born on Sept. 9, 1949, and lived a busy life devoting his time to running his successful logging business, Northern Timber Services that he founded in 1979 and raising his family.
Art was a true entrepreneur at heart and enjoyed the outdoors and animals of all kinds. He'll be remembered as a kind, loving and giving man who was always there to help anyone in need. Art was loved by many and his presence in our lives will forever be missed. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m., July 22, in the Andes Cemetery in Andes.
He was predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin and Phoebe (Rappleyea) Hitt.
Mr. Hitt is survived by his wife Laureen Hitt (Critz, Virginia); his three daughters, Joy Hitt (Delhi), Alysha Hitt (Collinsville, Virginia) and Chelsey Hitt (Boston, Massachusetts); his three sons, Jason Hitt (Cilo, Michigan), Andrew Holmes (Queensbury) and Randy Holmes (Salem); his grandchildren, Teddi Jo Robinson (Hobart), Jordan Robinson (San Francisco, California), Justin Hitt (Bainbridge), and Charleen Hitt (Orlando Florida); great-granddaughters, Eva Bridgeforth (Hobart) and Mallory Robinson (San Francisco, California); and great- grandson, Julian Hitt (Bainbridge); his sisters, Rose Grant (Stamford) and Marian Kosier (Lakeland, Florida); his brothers, Larry Hitt (Delhi) and Leroy Hitt (Stamford).
