Betty Linney's Story
SPRINGFIELD CENTER - Betty Linney Bosc, 88, of Springfield Center, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday evening, Nov. 9, 2017, at Focus Otsego in Cooperstown.
She was born Feb. 21, 1929, in Cooperstown, the daughter of the late William and Alice (Bebee) Linney.
Betty graduated from Springfield Central High School in 1946.
On Feb. 21, 1947, Betty married Ernest A. Bosc.
After graduation, she worked at Bassett Hospital for many years, holding various positions, receptionist, EEG technician and head secretary. In 1965, she attended a four-month training program at the Neurological Institute in New York City to become an EEG technician.
Betty loved her family and children very much. She attended countless functions to watch her grandchildren play basketball, soccer, tennis, snowboard, sing, play piano, perform in school plays, and participate in many other activities.
Betty was a faithful and lifetime member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Springfield Center where she served on the vestry, women's altar guild and sang in the choir. During retirement, Betty spent her time volunteering at MIB Hospital and Susquehanna Animal Shelter's Better Exchange thrift store in Cooperstown. All who knew her will remember her dedication and love for family and friends.
Surviving are her children, Daniel (Agnes) Bosc of Springfield Center, Sharon (Gerald) Dahl of Baldwinsville, Mary (Mark) Misiewicz of Springfield Center; 22 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Ernest, in 1994, and her brother William Linney.
In celebration of Betty's life, a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Dec. 27, at St Mary's Episcopal Church in Springfield Center. All are welcome to join the family following the service for a luncheon at St Mary's Parish House.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St Mary's Episcopal Church, Springfield Center.
