MILFORD - Cameron "Cam" B. Walters, 37, died unexpectedly Friday, Oct. 13, 2017.
Born Oct. 14, 1979, Cam was the son of Bernard and Katherine (Hill) Walters of Milford.
He grew up in Nashville, Tennessee and moved to Oneonta before his senior year. He attended Oneonta High School and Mohawk Valley Community College.
Cameron was charismatic, fun to be around and loved by all who knew him. He was an easy-going gentle spirit and made friends easily.
He loved animals (especially dogs) and rescued his dog Scrappy from the sweltering streets of Tuscon, Arizona.
A lifelong vegetarian, he followed a strict vegan diet in recent months because of his deep love for all innocent creatures.
A fun-loving and humorous individual, he was passionate and enthusiastic about most everything, including bicycling, yoga, meditation, ping pong, pool, and games of all sorts. He was a fantastic tennis player, taught by his father, and a great dancer.
Cameron was a bike mechanic and could fix anything. He devoured books about psychology, spirituality, positive thinking, forward momentum, and science. He was incredibly generous with his time and would go out of his way to help others.
Cameron is survived by his parents, Bernard and Katherine Walters of Milford; his sister, Autumn Walters of Los Angeles, California; his precious and beloved daughter, Avalyn Walters of Cooperstown and her mother and his dear friend, Carrie O'Brien. He is also survived by his grandparents, Gordon and Priscilla Hill of Big Pine Key, Florida; eight aunts and uncles; and many, many cousins.
A gathering to celebrate his life and share memories will be held at the Upper Susquehanna Cultural Center in Milford from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 18. A written remembrance of his life will be read at 6:30 p.m.
For those who so desire, the family suggests donations in Cam's memory be made to the Give Back Yoga Foundation to help people struggling with addiction at www.givebackyoga.org.
Arrangements are under the care of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown.
