SEWARD - Carl D. Weaver, 77, of State Route 10, was recovered Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017, following a 10-day search that encompassed Schoharie and Delaware counties.
He went hunting on Dec. 10, and succumbed to natural causes.
Born Jan. 8, 1940, in Warnerville, he was the son of the late Leslie and Eldeen (Pindar) Weaver.
Carl was a graduate of the former Cobleskill Central School and remained a lifelong area resident.
For many years, Carl was a self-employed painter, whose business grew by word of mouth.
He was passionate about his dogs, Buddy and Lucky, enjoyed hunting, woodworking and dancing.
Survivors include his sister, Vivian (Earl) Manchester of Sharon Springs; nieces, Debra (Ben) Roseboom of Westford and their children, Taylor and Corey, Cathy Manchester (David Dibble) of Summit, and Nancy (Paul) Wendel of Carrollton, Texas and their children, Alexis, Courtney and Connor; special cousin, Terri Smullen; close friends, David Slater and Paul Testa; and numerous other cousins and friends.
Respecting Carl's wishes, there will be no formal service. Inurnment will be in Zion Rural Cemetery.
Following the extensive search efforts for Carl, the family extend its sincere gratitude and appreciation to the agencies and volunteers that spent countless hours on this endeavor.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Carl's memory be made to your local fire and rescue departments.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill.
