MARGARETVILLE - Carson Michael George Jr., 67, of Arkville, passed away on Jan. 2, 2018, following a long, courageous battle with cancer.
He was the son of the late Carson M. George Sr. and Helen "Bucky" (Buckley) George.
Michael, as he was known to his family, was a graduate of Margaretville Central School and Ulster County Community College and attended Northwestern University.
He lived most of his life in Arkville, as the owner and operator of his contracting company, Leprechaun Construction.
He was an avid sports fan, with the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame being one of his favorite teams.
Michael is survived by six sisters and three brothers, Cathleen Spickerman of Rensselaer, Colleen Davis of Grand Junction, Colorado, Jeanne Marie George or Steubenville, Ohio, Patricia (Lonnie) Miller of Grand Junction, Colorado, Pamela Smith of Grand Junction Coklorado, Jisa Jean George of Steubenville, Ohio, Stephen George of Greenville, Jon George of Arkville and Timothy George of Afton. Michael is also survived by his nieces, Erin Mead, Jennifer Ennist, Kaitlyn Smith, Jessica George and Stephanie George; and nephews, Justin Spickerman, Damon Davis, Shawn Davis, Brendon Bailey and Jared George.
He was predeceased by a sister, Maureen George.
The family thanks Margaretville Memorial Hospital, Hospice, and the oncology floor of Albany Medical Center, for the care extended to Michael. Thanks also go to friends, Robbie Webster and Wayne Caswell, for driving him to his many appointments.
Calling hours and a Mass of Christian Burial will take place in the spring at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.
