RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Catherine (Smith) Van Allen, 95, died on Wednesday, May 22, 2019.
Catherine (Katie) was the daughter of the late Frank and Hazel (Pratt) Smith.
Katie worked for the National Baseball Hall of Fame for 25 years until her retirement. Katie was a communicant of St. Joseph's the Worker RC Church, Richfield Springs. She was a member of the Richfield Springs Garden Club.
Surviving are her children, Karen (Colin) Ingham of Okatie, South Carolina; a son, Tom (Dede) Van Allen of Camillus; grandchildren, Allie, Matt and Chrissy Van Allen; sister, Helen Mulligan of Cooperstown; and several nieces and nephews.
Katie was predeceased by her husband of 62 years John; two sons, John and Gary; three brothers, Eugene, Glenn and Francis Smith; and a sister, Margaret.
Calling hours will be at J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home; 40 W. James St., Richfield Springs, from 4 to 6 p.m., Tuesday May 28.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday at St. Joseph the Worker RC Church, Richfield Springs

Karen and Tom - I didn't know. Kay was such a joy to work with; so positive and good natured. I enjoyed my time with her at the museum immensely. My sympathy goes out to you at this time; I am thinking of you and my wonderful association with the Van Allens over the years.
