DAVENPORT - David William Ballard, 50, passed away suddenly due to a heart attack on Jan. 19, 2018, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.
He was born Aug. 26, 1967, in Margaretville.
David is survived by his mother, Eleanor (Powell) and husband, William A. Raymond Sr.; his father, Thomas G. Ballard Sr. and Ellie Rutherford; his brother, Thomas G. Ballard Jr. and wife, Genevieve and their children, Marshall Duplacy, Samantha Duplacy, Cassandra Gardner, Nicole Duplacy, Kayla Ballard, Taylor Ballard, and Tommy Ballard; his stepbrother, William A. Raymond Jr. and wife, Louise and their family; his stepsister, Penny Millan and husband, James and their family; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by grandparents, William G. Powell, Lorraine Powell and Altannah Fairbairn; and aunt, Darlene Pickett.
"Uncle Dave" will be remembered most by his uproarious laughter and attentiveness to his mother, nieces and nephews. David was always involved in their lives, caring for them, attending school events and spending the holidays with them. He was always there to lend a helping hand when needed. David loved spending time with his mother and stepfather, Bill, playing cards, baking, and making products from Bill's beehives. He enjoyed helping extract honey, and produced all-natural lotions, lip balms and candles from the beeswax.
As we loved you, so we will miss you. In our memory, you are near. Loved, remembered, longed for always. Bringing many a silent tear.
Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at the Heller & Skinner Funeral Home, 155 Main St., Worcester.
The funeral mass will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 26, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 201 Main St., Worcester, with the Fr. Paul J. Mijas as celebrant.
