SOUTH KORTRIGHT - Donald J. Magnan, 88, of South Kortright, passed away Dec. 13, 2017, following a lengthy illness.
He was born in NYC on March 6, 1929, to the late Nicholas and Geraldine (White) Magnan.
He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Jack; and sister, Lorelle.
Donald attended Morrisville College of Agriculture.
For 40 years he was owner/operator of Magnan Meat Distributor in Bloomville. Every day he found joy in working and interacting with his customers.
His honor was to have served as a Marine from 1946 to 1948.
Donald is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ellamae; daughter and son-in-law, Barry and Mary (Magnan) Hendee; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Gina (Imperial) Magnan, son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Robin (Martin) Magnan, son, Joseph Magnan; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Diane Plate; many nieces and nephews.
His greatest joy in life was his family, and playing with the children.
There will be no viewing.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 16, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Stamford with the Rev. Michael Cambi, Celebrant. Burial, with full military honors, will be held in the spring in Locust Hill Cemetery, Hobart.
