ONEONTA - Doris W. Oliver, 94, of Oneonta, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017.
Born and raised in Milford, Doris was a graduate of Milford High School.
She was married to Leland Arthur Oliver, who passed away on Nov. 10, 2011, for 70 years.
She was a devoted wife and mother of three sons. She loved her family, friends and church. Doris moved to Patterson, California, in 2015, and lived the remaining two years and six months of her life with her youngest son, Michael Oliver and his wife, Mary Jane and family, who cared for her.
Doris worked for Bendix Corporation for more than 25 years, Oneonta School District for more than 12 years, and then retired.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland Arthur Oliver; oldest son, Stephen Walter Oliver, second oldest son, Thomas Lee Oliver; great-grandson, Aaron Michael Oliver; sisters, Dorothy Carley, her husband, Paul, Myrtle Mohney, her husband, Tom, and Marie Nearing.
Survivors include her youngest son, Michael W Oliver, daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Oliver, grandson, Matthew Joseph Oliver, his wife, Mary Cris Oliver, great-grandson, Alexander Daniel Oliver, all of Patterson, California; daughter-in-law, Nancy Oliver of Seymour, Tennessee, grandson, Stephen W Oliver Jr., wife, Gina and great-grandson, Samuel, of Arlington, Virginia; grandson, David Timothy Oliver of Albany; daughter-in-law, Joan Oliver of Watkins Glenn; grandson, Jeffrey Oliver of Elmira; granddaughter, Bethany Spaulding, husband, Ernie of Corning; granddaughter, Christy Oliver of Buffalo; brother, Hilton Wood, wife, Ann, nephew, Craig, all of Milford; niece, Bonnie Kress, husband, Gunner; and other relatives.
The family thanks all the nurses and aides of Optimal Hospice, Modesto, California, for the wonderful care they provided to Doris and the family the last few months of her life.
The funeral will be at noon,Thursday, Nov. 30, at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Keith VanDewerker officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon.
Burial will be in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery on Oneida Street immediately following the funeral service.
Flowers to celebrate Doris' life may be sent to the funeral home.
