GREENSBORO, N.C. - It is with great sadness that the family of Douglas "Doug" Fredrick Jester announces his sudden passing at his home on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017, in Greensboro, North Carolina.
He was born on July 7, 1953, in Oneonta, to Wayne and Charlotte Jester.
He was a 1971 graduate of Oneonta High School.
On Feb. 14, 1981, he married Belinda "Binnie" Jester on Catalina Island off the coast of Southern California.
He enjoyed going to football games with his sons, playing the harmonica, spending time with his golden retrievers, Lucy and Harvey, and traveling with his family. He was a friend to everyone and never met a stranger.
He worked in the furniture business for more than 40 years, and was a master of woodworking which he continued to enjoy into his retirement.
He will be forever remembered by his loving wife and best friend, Binnie, of 36 years. He is survived by their three sons, Brooks and his wife, Jaclyn and their daughter, Lily of Charlotte; Matt and his fiancé, Jacqueline "Jackie" Shelkey of Charlotte; Sam of Lake Forest, California; and sister, Diane and her husband, William Bookhout and their two sons, Daniel and Benjamin of Saint Augustine, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents.
Per his wishes, the immediate family will have a small memorial gathering at their family lake house on Saturday, Nov. 25.
