WALTON - Douglas L. Watson, 66, of Walton, passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 16, 2019, at Delhi Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Jan. 10, 1953, in Norwich, he was the son of the late Lloyd (Jen) and Erma Eggleton Watson.
Doug worked for the Walton Central School District, retiring in 2008 with more than 34 years of dedicated service. The children Doug met over his 34-year career meant the world to him. He loved being able to put a smile on a child's face with one of his funny jokes or just a few kind words of encouragement. He will be truly missed by all who had the opportunity to know him.
Doug proudly served his country in the Marines during the Vietnam War.
He was an avid bowler and enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 47 years, Diane Bussy Watson of Walton; son, Douglas Watson of Walton; daughter, Stacy Stevens (Don) of Topeka, Indiana; brother, Dennis Watson of Walton; sister, Barbara Sastra (Mike) of Appalachian; and grandchildren, Joseph, Korynn and Anthony. Doug is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his father and mother-in-law, Ivan and Marjorie Bussy.
Visitation, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 24, at Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton. A service to celebrate Doug's life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 24, at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Wilkie officiating.
Burial, in Halcottsville Cemetery with military honors, will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Doug's name to a charity of one's choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.

I love you so much Daddy!!!
i know you know im trying so very hard to be strong and not be sad like you said but i also know that you know that's impossible for me to do right now.
It's so hard already just knowing I won't feel your arms around me or hear your voice or see your smile again.
How about those silly faces you would make just to get me to smile.
I miss you Daddy!!!
