Elaine R.'s Story
TAMARAC, Fla. - Elaine R. Yerdon, 80, of Tamarac, Florida, formerly of Cherry Valley, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 26, 2017, at her home with her husband and her two daughters by her side.
Elaine was born on July 16, 1936, in Springfield, a daughter of the late Carl and Eva Oakes.
Elaine retired from Basset Healthcare after dedicating more than 30 years of compassionate service as a nurse. After retirement, Elaine enjoyed golfing with friends and spending many hours with her husband attending auctions or finding and collecting little treasures found at yard sales and flea markets.
Elaine is survived by her beloved husband, Seth Yerdon; two daughters, Tracy Moylan and Cheryl Myint; grandchildren, Evan, Brianna, Charles and Sarah Myint (Evan's wife); great- grandchildren, Elijah and Leah Myint; sisters, Charlotte Millard, Jean Domion, Joan Monte and Rosalie Snyder; brothers, Clifford, Carlton and Jerome Oakes; and sisters-in-law, Regina Oakes and Janice Yerdon. She is also survived by a large number of nieces and nephews and John Moylan, a special friend to the family.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a brother, Larry Oakes.
Elaine will forever be remembered as always putting others before herself and having a great laugh and a warm, friendly smile to brighten anyone's day.
The family will have a private service in Cherry Valley, at a later date.
