OTEGO - Elizabeth T. Schaub, 98, passed away on Dec. 12, 2017.
She was born in Czechoslovakia on Jan. 19, 1919, and came to America as a child.
She met Otto E. Schaub in 1945 on New Year's Eve. They were married Aug. 18, 1946. Our dad was born in Germany on Nov. 20, 1915, and came to America as a child. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. Mom was a housewife. Dad was an elevator mechanic. They raised their children in New Jersey and for years had a summer home near Crystal Lake in Garrattsville. After dad retired they moved to Florida. Shortly after their 46th anniversary, our dad passed away Aug. 29 1992. In 2001, she moved to Otego so she could be close to family and enjoy the four seasons. She loved to knit, crochet, bake, and tend to her garden. She especially loved having family get-togethers. She will be remembered as being generous, caring, and a person of few words who never complained. She is survived by her three children, Richard Schaub, Nancy and husband, William "Bill" Sacco, Carol and husband, Randy Wilson; grandchildren, Richard Schaub Jr., Kelly and husband, Joseph Poje, Thomas and wife, Karen Sacco, Michele and husband Christopher "Kip" Wilson, Jessica Wade and Kristen Wilson; great-grandchildren, (who called her Grammie), Alyssa and Evan Poje, Jordan, Anthony and Brandon Sacco, Oliver and Madelyn Wilson.
We thank Bonnie Knapp for being a thoughtful and dear friend to our mom. Special thanks to everyone at Chestnut Park for the loving care she received.
Services will be private and mom and dad will be laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery in Otego.
Anyone wishing to honor Betty may do so by doing a kind deed in her name.
