WORCESTER - Elsie J. Conte, 87, passed away Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.
She was born on June 19, 1930, in Decatur, the daughter of Leopold and Antoinette (Skerl) Hren.
Elsie married Peter Conte on Nov. 17, 1951, at St. Joseph's Church in Worcester. He predeceased her on Nov. 17, 2004.
Along with her husband, she owned the Conte Dairy Farm, now operated by her son. She had cooked part time at the Worcester Senior Meal site.
Elsie was a lifelong area resident. She was a member of the Worcester Grange having been secretary for many years, St. Joseph's Church and St. Joseph's Altar Rosary Society.
Elsie will be remembered for kind ways and her baking. Elsie was an exceptional grandma. She also enjoyed flower gardening.
Elsie is survived by her daughter, Toni Tauzel and her husband, Jim; her son, Peter Conte and his wife, Robin; her daughter, Terri Doane, and her daughter, Lucille Staudohar and companion, William Colin; her grandchildren, Alfred, Dawn, Joseph, Michael, Elizabeth, Janelle, Jimmy and Brittany; 14 great-grandchildren; her brother, Henry Hren and his wife, Jean; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her grandchildren, Bobby Conte and Victoria Tauzel; her sister, Marie Fedor; her brothers, Leo, Joe, John and Tony Hren; and her sons-in-law, Joel Staudohar and Edwin Doane.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 3, at St. Joseph's Church, Main Street, Worcester, with the Rev. Paul Mijas as celebrant.
Burial will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery at a later date.
