OTEGO - Eva J. Platt, 79, of Otego, passed away March 2, 2018, with her family by her side, at the Cooperstown Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing.
Eva was born to Oscar and Eva Rake in Otego on April 22, 1938. She graduated from Otego High School in 1957.
She was a longtime bus driver for the Unatego school district, Bugbee Head Start and Arc Otsego She also provided respite care for Springbrook for many years until her retirement.
In Eva's spare time she sold crafts, homemade pillows and blankets
She enjoyed collecting Beanie Babies, sewing, embroidery and crafts. Eva was a Girl Scout leader in Otego for many years. She also loved photography, traveling and bird watching.
She is preceded in death by her sisters, Kaye Montgomery, Betty Rake, Marion Klotz, Carol Shockley and Doris Holcomb.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Charles Platt; children, Kim Platt-Weimer, Robin Platt, Thomas Platt, Jackie Platt-Gascon, Timothy Platt and Rebecca Platt; five grandchildren, Jessica Combes, Christopher Franke, Ricky Franke, Tracy Weimer and Ryan Dunlap; and two great-grandchildren, Brendon and Serenity.
A memorial service was held Sunday for family and friends at the Sidney American Legion.
