BURLINGTON FLATS - Florence L. "Flossie" Benjamin Bliss, 66, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, March 8, 2018.
Flossie was born on July 29, 1951, in Cooperstown, the daughter of Donald and Jeannette Cline Benjamin.
She was pre deceased by her father, Donald; daughter, Grace; and sister-in-law, Gloria Benjamin.
She is survived by her husband, Keith Bliss of Burlington Flats; children, Michael Bliss of Constantia, Sarah (Frederik) Hooper of Walton and Jennifer (Matthew) Conant of Ballston Spa; grandchildren, Emery Bliss, Aubree and Parker Conant and Bryce Hooper; mother, Jeannette Benjamin of Burlington Flats; brothers,Timothy (Beth) Benjamin of Gloversville, Arthur Benjamin of Virginia and Paul (Linda) Benjamin of Burlington Flats; sister, Kelly Benjamin of Burlington Flats; many nieces and nephews, including Paul, Mitchell (Shannon), Daniel (Jamie), Meghan, Nathan, Brandon and Lillian.
Flossie was a lifetime resident of the area. She graduated from Edmeston Central School with the Class of 1969.
On March 12, 1971, she married Keith and later began a 40-year career with NYCM Insurance as a claims examiner, retiring in 2013. She was a charter member of the Cooperstown Assembly of God Church, enjoyed the summer camping with family at Darien Lake. She was also an avid reader and animal lover who collected angels and lighthouse figurines.
She will be remembered as a woman who loved her family and gave freely of her time to her children and grandchildren.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, at Delker and Terry Funeral Home, 30 South St., Edmeston. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 14, at Cooperstown Assembly of God Church, 4354 State Highway 80, Hartwick, with William Kirk, Assistant Superintendent of NYS Assembly of God Church, and Pastor Robert Ferraro of Cooperstown Assembly of God Church, officiating. Interment will be in West Brookfield Cemetery in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care, 297 River St. Service Road, Oneonta, NY 13820, in memory of Flossie.
