TUCSON, Ariz. - Florence Stachelska Gado peacefully passed away in Tucson, Arizona, Oct. 10, 2017, following a brief illness.
She was born in New York City April, 28, 1918, but a lifelong resident of Oneonta.
Her husband of 71 years Aldo predeceased her in 2013.
Surviving are her two sons, Ted Gado and Paul Gado and his wife, Beverly; Ted's longtime companion and fiancé, Kathleen Holback; grandchildren, Allison Jacobson, her husband, Robert, Paula Aversa, Mark Schmidt and his wife, Terri, Brian Schmidt and his wife, Laila; many great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Florence held a master's degree in education and taught in the Laurens school system in upstate New York for 25 years where her fondest memories were held dearly to her heart for the Class of 1981.
She was a bridge Grand Master, substitute teacher for the Sahuarita School District and received recognition for hiking 2000 miles in the mountains of Green Valley, Arizona during her 80s and 90s.
She provided tax accounting services for many years while in New York and until the last few months, she volunteered her services to a charity organization in Green Valley.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her especially her sons.
There will be a memorial service in New York sometime in the near future.
