ONEONTA - George Guanu of Oneonta, died Saturday, June 17, 2017, at MIB Hospital, following a short illness.
George was born in Albany, Sept. 4, 1948, to Shirley and John Guanu.
Always charismatic, caring and generous, George graduated from high school in 1966, after which he moved with his family to Cherry Valley.
George had a contagious smile and the ability to make everyone around him happy.
George was an avid game player, loving all board and card games. Family members and friends were often baffled by his skill and luck as he consistently won. He enjoyed going to Turning Stone, Verona, where he would always wear his lucky blue shirt to look like a gentleman. He liked to play Blackjack and Twenty-One, where his luck rarely failed him.
George is survived by his sister, Christine and husband, Chuck and their children Chadd, Kevin and Kayla; as well as his brother, Seth and wife, Christine and their son, George. In addition to his immediate family, he leaves behind countless friends who will miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Sunday June 25, at the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m., Saturday, June 24, at the funeral home.
