Born on Jan. 17, 1926, in Sidney Center, he was the son of the late Edward and Evelyn (Rosa) Knapp.
Mr. Knapp was married to the former Marion Bordeau. She passed away in 1989 and George later was married to Sarah Fuller, who passed away in 2015.

Besides his spouses, George was predeceased by a son-in-law, Thomas Rucher; and grandson, Scott Rucher.
He is survived by his children, Sandra L. Hunter of Oneonta, Roy Knapp of Franklin, Randy F. (Sabrina) Knapp of Mt. Vision and Shari (Don) Anderson of Andes; grandchildren, Carolyn, Darlene, Dustin, Nikki, Crystal, George, Curt, Jeffrey, Dillon, Jennifer, Christopher and Meg; several great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and stepchildren, who George loved as his own; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
