EDMESTON - Grace Hurd Estell, 70, of Edmeston, passed away at her home on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017, with her loving family at her side.
Grace was born in Dunmore, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Ralph and Ada Hinkley Pease. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Joey Hurd.
She is survived by her husband, Abram Estell II. They were married on May 11, 1968, in Franklin, New Jersey. She is also survived by their children, Abram III (Stephanie) Estell of Edmeston, Eric Estell of Edmeston, Michel (Jeffrey) Galley of Pittsfield, and Amanda Braswell of Edmeston; grandchildren, Kathryn, Kayleigh, Emily, Marissa, Austin, Warren, Sean, and Benjamin; siblings Charlie, Linda, Ralph, Shannon, William, Naomi, Ellen Sue, Ronnie, and Donnie; several nieces and nephews.
Grace and Abram moved to Edmeston from Hamburg, New Jersey, and spent the last 30 years on the dairy farm raising their family. She is remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who loved spending time with the grandchildren. Grace was an avid knitter, needle-pointer, and also loved crocheting for her family. She also loved to cook and bake. In spite of not being in love with dirt, Grace was also a great gardener, growing many flowers and vegetables over the years. She was a member of the Garrattsville Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday Aug. 22, at the Delker and Terry Funeral Home, 30 South St., Edmeston, with Judith A.Gage, Commissioned Lay Preacher for the Presbytery of Susquehanna Valley officiating. Interment will follow in Edmeston Union Cemetery. Calling hours will be from noon to 2 p.m., before services at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the Garrattsville Presbyterian Church in loving memory of Grace.
