NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - Hazel A. Hoy, 85, of New Port Richey, Florida., died May 12, 2017.
She was born to Charles and Edna Ashton in Pomfret, Vermont, on June 25, 1931.
Hazel is predeceased by husbands, Neil Helfrich and Hebert Hoy; and sister, Virginia Bartz.
She is survived by her daughters, Roz Helfrich and Lorna Rutherford; brother, Dusty Ashton; six grandchildren, Tara, Shea, Caileigh and Bryn Mulligan and Terry and Todd Rutherford; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Ollie.
Hazel was a graduate of Sidney Center High School, Sidney.
She was a member of the Sidney Center Methodist Church, Sidney Center Fire Department and Auxiliary, Women of the Moose, Delaware County Auxiliary and Ladies Auxiliary of the Firemen's Association of the State of New York and Red Hat Society, New Port Richey, Florida. She enjoyed clowning in Pasco County for charity, and entertaining her many friends in New York and Florida. Halloween was always dress-up time for her and her many friends. She thoroughly enjoyed her membership in the Hillandale Civic Association.
A celebration of Hazel's life will be held at the Sidney Center Fire Hall. Friends will gather from 3 to 7 p.m., Aug. 12, with a service at 4:30 p.m., followed by dinner. Please RSVP for dinner by calling 563-3213.
