Ida's Story

STAMFORD - Ida Bassani, 99, of Stamford, passed away early Friday morning, March 9, 2018, at home following a long illness.
She was born on Jan. 11, 1919, in Hamden.
Ida was a gifted cook and baker. Over the years she worked as cook and waitress at various restaurants and diners including the Creekside in Grand Gorge. She was known for her chicken and biscuits and everyone enjoyed her pies always made from scratch.
She is survived by two children, Geraldine Bassani and Richard Bassani, both of Stamford; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ida was predeceased by her husband, Bruno Bassani in 1997. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Marshall, Frances, Irene and Isabell.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 40 Cornell Ave., Hobart. Burial will take place in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Stamford.
Ida's family is especially thankful to Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care; Dr. Beth, Tracey, Sweet Roger and Jackie; "The Fantastic Threesome," Annemarie, Maddy and Christine, who they will never be able to thank enough.
