Jacqueline "Jackie"'s Story
MARGARETVILLE Jacqueline "Jackie" Alida Cowan, 70, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, at Margaretville.
Jackie was born on June 28, 1947, in Margaretville, the daughter of Glenn V. and Gwendolyn (Reynolds) Cole.
She married William R. Cowan on Sept. 30, 1967, at Andes. Bill died Oct. 2, 2015.
Jackie graduated from Andes Central School in 1965 and received her LPN certification from Oneonta Nursing School in Oneonta.
While employed at Margaretville Hospital, she used her nursing education and presently had been working for the Town of Middletown as a longtime assessor.
She was known by family and friends for her delicious cinnamon buns and dinner rolls.
Jackie is survived by her mother, Gwendolyn Cole of Andes; sister, Joyce C. Hall; brother and sister-in-law, Glenn V. (Barbara) Cole Jr.; several nieces, nephews; great-nieces; a great-grand-nephew; her brother-in-law, Doug Cowan; special friends, Donna and Warren Bender and Scott Soderback; and her pet Lab, Dee Dee.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bill; daughter, Donna Cowan; sisters-in-law, Betty, Mary and Barbara; and father, Glenn V. Cole Sr.
Donations in memory of Jacqueline A. Cowan may be made to the Donna Cowan Memorial Scholarship Fund at Margaretville Central School.
Jackie requested there be no formal funeral service or calling hours.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Hynes Funeral home, Margaretville.
