Jacquelyn P.'s Story
VAN HORNESVILLE - Jacquelyn P. Mortensen, 86, of Summit Hill Road passed away on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017, in her home with the comfort of her family at her side.
She was born on Aug. 24, 1931, in Hartford, Connecticut, a daughter of the late David and Anna Parsons. Jacquelyn was raised and educated in Hartford.
She married Donald Mortensen Sr. on Feb. 20, 1954, in Hartford. He died on April 26, 2000. They had resided in Van Hornesville since 1970, coming from Windsor, Connecticut.
She was a billing clerk for Bassett Hospital until she retired in 1991. For 25 years she operated the carousel at The Farmers' Museum in Cooperstown.
She is survived by four sons and their wives, Donald and Linda of Mariaville, Niels and Suzanne of Mohawk, Eric and Sandra of Jordanville and David and Donna of Dallas Texas; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 19, at J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James St., Richfield Springs.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 20, at St. Joseph the Worker Church, 35 Canadarago St., Richfield Springs with the Rev. Silvastar Sarihadula officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
