HONEOYE FALLS - James H. Scott, 58, joined his Heavenly Father on Friday, Jan. 26, 2018, while staying at the home of his sister in Unadilla.
Jim attended Unatego Central School, where he participated on football, basketball, baseball and cross country teams. He was also active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Following high school, Jim served as a Seaman Gunner's Mate in the United States Navy serving on the USS Conolly DD-79 of Norfolk, Virginia. He then attended Herkimer County Community College where he played soccer, basketball and baseball. Jim received the Athlete of the Year Award his senior year there.
Jim's love of the game led him to positions at several Rochester golf courses. He played and won many tournaments including his most recent, being his club championship in 2016.
Jim worked as regional sales manager for Hoshizaki America and was a former territory manager at Scotsman Industries.
He is survived by his beloved children, Ashley Scott and fiancé, Gill Bernard, Phoenix, Arizona, James D. Scott and Alyssa Riley, Rochester; sisters, Martha (Ralph) Vanderlip of Unadilla, Theresa (Howard) Finch of Sidney, Barbara Cattadoris of Otego; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great- nephews; aunts and cousins. He is also survived by special cousins, Donalda and Keith Vanderlip of Rochester.
Jim will be dearly missed by his family and all his friends that meant so much to him. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Ruth Scott of Unadilla and nephew, Tyler Cattadoris of Otego.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 3, at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 240 Main St. Unadilla. Burial will be in Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla, in the spring.
