Jean E. Miner
A life-long area resident, Jean was employed at Bendix/Scintilla in Sidney during WWII. She also worked for many years at the AL Kellogg School and as a Postal Clerk in the Franklin and Treadwell post offices. Jean babysat for many area children, one of these being Maura (Buckley) Shotter, who throughout the years has remained a life-long friend.
Jean enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and their families. She told countless stories of her life and the history of Treadwell to anyone who was interested. She loved going to the beach with her daughter and her family. She also had many hobbies, crocheting, watching baseball, gardening, bird and weather watching were her favorites. She was especially fond of her "kitties."
She was a member of the Treadwell UMC, the Treadwell Community Club and the Treadwell PTA.
Jean is survived by four sons, Robert Roy Miner (wife Gertrude) of Treadwell, Donald E. Miner (wife Karen of Walton) of the Oxford Veterans' Home, Thomas E. Miner (wife Gail) of Grand Gorge, Walter C. "Butch" Miner (wife Rosi) of Treadwell; one daughter, Carol Waite of Concord, New Hampshire; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great- grandchildren.
She was also predeceased by her brother, Robert Bell; sister, Ruth Underwood; and her son in law, John Waite.
Friends are invited to greet the family from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019 at the Treadwell United Methodist Church, Church St, Treadwell, where a service will take place immediately following at 2 p.m. Guests are invited to join the family for a luncheon following the service.
Burial will be in the spring at Croton Union Cemetery, Treadwell, at the convenience of the family.
