ROXBURY - Jesse Needham passed away on July 5, 2017.
He was born on Oct. 30, 1983 in Stamford, the son of Ralph and Lori Needham.
Jesse graduated from Roxbury Central School in 2002. He then went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from Siena College in 2006.
Jesse enlisted in the United States Army in 2010. He completed Officer Candidate School and was promoted to Captain. He was assigned to Vilseck, Germany and then went on to serve a tour in Afghanistan. He received numerous awards and medals for all of his accomplishments. He was discharged in March 2016. He then joined the United States Army Reserves and was currently on active duty.
Jesse is survived by his parents, Ralph and Lori Needham; his brother, Jamie Needham; his sisters, Tara Poniros and Tanya Corry; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Virgil Taylor; his nephews, Hunter Poniros, Gavin and Matthew Corry; and his nieces Shauna Corry, Bella and Ava Poniros and Sophia Needham.
Jesse will always be remembered as being loving and devoted to his family. One of his greatest joys was being an uncle and mentor to all of his nephews and nieces. His priority was to teach kindness, tolerance, respect, and to never be afraid to try something new. He wanted us all to experience the adventure of life. He was also exceptionally loyal to all of his friends and would do anything for all of them.
He found joy in traveling and hiking throughout the United States and Europe. He cherished the culinary experiences throughout his travels and tried to replicate them back home for all of us to enjoy.
Friends and family are invited to call on the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 12, at the Jay Gould Memorial Reformed Church, 53837 Main St., Roxbury.
A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Dykstra officiating. Burial will be in the Roxbury Cemetery and will be followed by a reception.
