Joyce E.'s Story
ALBANY - Joyce E. Stockholm "AJ," 74, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born on Feb. 2, 1943, in Oneonta; a daughter of the late Horace and Leta Persons Cornish.
Joyce worked as a secretary for the NYS Office of Mental Health. She loved birdwatching, solving crossword puzzles, playing bingo and pitch. She also loved to travel with the Thunder Road Seniors. Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Joyce is predeceased by her husband, Wendell S. Stockholm. It was a loving union of 26 years until his passing in 2008
Survivors include her loving family, son, Douglas J. Winters; granddaughter, Morgan E. Winters; sisters, Jerri Houlihan (loving brother-in-law, Bob) and JoAnn Vass; brother, Howard I. Cornish. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Joyce was predeceased by her brother, Bernard L. Cornish; sisters, Jean Renwick, Esther Douglas and Verna John; and daughter-in-law, Susan L. Winters.
A funeral service for Joyce will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 19, at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 18, at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
