Juel Smith Luscomb

November 22, 1936 - January 09, 2019

Juel Smith Luscomb SIDNEY - Juel Smith Luscomb entered paradise on Jan. 9, 2019.
The daughter of Robert E. Smith and Evelyn Stark Smith, she was born in Waverly, Pennsylvania in 1936 and graduated from high school in Sidney in 1954.
She married Douglas A. Luscomb, formerly of Walton, in 1959. He predeceased her in November 2016. Their son Scott and his wife Joanne have four children, Michael, Seth, Rachel and Joseph.
Juel was predeceased by her brother Bob Smith in the winter of 2017. Her brother Stark Smith and his wife Sheila live in Florida. She has a loving nephew and six wonderful nieces.
Juel became a beloved high school English teacher in Bainbridge and Sidney schools for more than 30 years. She had a beautiful singing voice and carried leading roles in Sidney's Tri-Town Theatre in the 1960's and 70's.
Friends and family will deeply miss her generosity and sense of humor. Her enduring faith in God and her passion for truth were an inspiration to everyone. She was a fearless friend of the underdog and a vigorous American patriot as well.
Friends are invited to call from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sidney Emergency Squad would be appreciated. Share condolences with the family online at www.landersfh.com.

Every memory of Juel is thought of with great warmth. From the times I spent overnights in her Sidney home as a young girl to the happy family picnics in Mt Upton as an adult. I always admired her strong spirit & directness and hope to imitate that! She will be very missed.
