PHOENIX, Ariz. - Lena Bessie (Clemens) Gorton, 84, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on Oct. 5, 2018.
She was born Jan. 20, 1934, in Smyrna, to Esther and Clement Clemens.
Lena was married for 63 years to her devoted husband, Burton Gorton.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathy, Martha and Susan; daughters-in-law, Jan, Lynne, Ruth and Christie; sons, David, Raymond, and Martin; and son-in-law, Philip.
She cherished her nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sons, Burton Gorton Jr. and Steven Gorton; and son-in-law, George Stillman.
Lena was a devoted military wife for 21 years and lived on both coasts. She retired from working as an LPN in upstate New York.
Lena and her husband moved to Phoenix, Arizona, in 2005 after living in Morris for close to 30 years. She was active in the church and neighborhood block watch for many years. Her favorite pastimes were gardening, sending cards to her love ones and playing with her great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held from noon to 1 p.m., Oct. 12, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 96 W. Main St., Morris.
