Margaret Anne Willis STAMFORD - Anne Willis, 94, (Margaret Anne) of Stamford, passed away at her home on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018.
Born on Feb. 10, 1924, in Roxbury, she was the third child of Mason Willis and Daisy Belle Rogers.
Their children were Alice, Roger, Margaret Anne and Philip.
Anne was raised in Stamford and later spent time in New Mexico participating in archaeological digs of the Hopi and Zuni native tribes and at Chaco Canyon. Then she returned to Stamford and worked as a librarian at the Stamford Village Library.
Anne had a passion for history and became Stamford Village Historian, taking on the position that was held by her mother, Daisy DeSilva.
She also traveled to Ireland with her mother to research family records there.
Besides her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her nephew and niece, David McCauley and Nancy Palermo, both children of her beloved sister, Alice.
She is survived by her nephews and nieces, Timothy Willis of Voorheesville, Matthew Willis of Albany, Barbara Smith of Lodi and Janet Singer of Santa Cruz, California.
Friends and relatives are invited to call from 11 a.m. until noon, Oct. 13, followed by a time of sharing at MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive, Stamford. Burial will take place in Stamford Cemetery.
