Margaret Nell's Story

OXFORD - Margaret Nell Hovick, 91, of Oxford, formerly of Hartwick, passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, at home, with her loving family at her side.
Margaret was born in Washington, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Newton and Mary M. Gillespie Riggle.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Henry; son, Thomas Hovick; brother, Newton Riggle Jr.; and two grandsons, David Bolton and T.J. Hovick.
Margaret and Henry enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. Upon Henry's retirement, they spent more than three months in Europe, and visited with family in Norway.
She enjoyed crochet, embroidery, and working in her flower beds. In addition, she was a great cook, always willing to read about, and try new recipes for the family. Margaret loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Her outlook on life was to find the good in others, and keep smiling, even when times are difficult.
She is survived by her children, Jim Hovick of Hartwick, Kathy (Harold) Kappauf of Oxford, and Gail (Jack) Bolton of Burlington Flats. In addition, she is survived by 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 12:45 p.m., Friday, Aug. 18, at St. John's Lutheran Church in West Burlington with the Rev. Sandy Shear officiating. Interment will follow in Burlington Green Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon before services at the Delker and Terry Funeral Home, 30 South St., Edmeston.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St., Norwich NY 13815, in loving memory of Margaret. Arrangements are by NYS Licensed Funeral Director David Delker at Delker and Terry Funeral Home, 30 South St., Edmeston.
