He was born Feb. 22, 1945 in Staten Island, the son of the late Thomas and Esther (Lynn) McCafferty.
Michael proudly served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era and was honorably discharged.
Michael spent his career as a psychotherapist/counselor helping others. His specialty was trauma victims. He coined himself a warrior and helped people find that in themselves.
He was an expert stone and wood craftsman and loved nature. In his later years he enjoyed taking care of his four dogs, the birds and the squirrels.
Michael is survived by his son, Connor McCafferty of Portland, Oregon; brother, Edward McCafferty of Seminole, Florida; sister, Marianne Cunningham of Trion, North Carolina; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
