Mildred A. Roodhof ONEONTA - Mildred A. Roodhof, 95, formerly of Oneonta, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, in Oxford, with her daughter, Dawn, by her side.
She was born on Nov. 13, 1923, the daughter of Bernard and Theresa (Steigerwald) Connor in Pleasant Mount, Pennsylvania.
She married Theodore J. Roodhof Sr. on Dec. 9, 1945. He predeceased her in 1994.
She is survived by her children, Patricia Roodhof of Oneonta, Cindy Roodhof of Port St. Lucie Florida, Theodore Roodhof Jr. (Vicki Nichols) of Port St. Lucie, Dawn Benjamin and son-in-law Darin Benjamin of Burlington Flats; her granddaughter, Alisha Brophy of Los Angeles, California and her brother, William Connor; along with many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Benedict (Lucy), Harold (Alice), Donald (Gen), Bernard (Rita), Raymond, Clarence (Rose) and Joseph Connor; together with her sisters, Margarite Wilmont and Winifred Webster and sisters-in-law, Annette Chiapetta and Martha Badalty.
Although she spent the majority of her life caring for her children, she was employed at the Oneonta Nursing Home, Greater Plains School and Berlin Optical. Mildred loved playing cards, bingo, puzzles and reading, along with spending time and cooking for her children. She was a devoted mother/grandmother and a best friend to her children. Everything she did revolved around them. Her children wish to express that they were truly blessed to have such a wonderful amazing mother.
She had resided since 2016 at the Oxford's Home for Veterans and the family is very appreciative of the care she received from the exceptional staff on the Oak wing.
Donations may be made in her name to any veteran's organization.
At Mildred's request, a private family viewing has been arranged.
There will be a celebration of her life at her son's Oneonta home at 28 Butler St. from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 13.
At a later date to be announced there will be a graveside committal service.
