MANORKILL - Nancy Sweatman, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, caretaker and friend, passed away on Sunday Sept. 17, 2017, at her home in Manorkill, surrounded by her family.
Nancy graduated from Cobleskill Central High School in 1967 and attended SUNY Cobleskill.
She served as Conesville Town Clerk for 18 years, was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Fire Police, Conesville Fire Department and Conesville Mountaintop Seniors, serving in leadership roles for many of those organizations. She served as a 4-H and Girl Scout leader when her daughters were young.
As a youth, Nancy participated in Girl Scouts, band and choir among other things.
A lover of animals, her home was never without a furry friend and the wild birds knew they could rely on her during the cold winter months.
Nancy was born on May 11,1949, the third and youngest child of George and Virginia (Carey) Christman. Her parents, as well as her brother, Robert Christman preceded her in death.
She is survived by many who are grateful for having been a part of her life. Among them are husband, John Sweatman; daughters, Carrie (Michael) Holt, Rebecca Sweatman and Sarah Sweatman; granddaughters, Kendra and Madison Holt; sister, Katherine Rieke; sister-in-law, Una (Sweatman) Hughes; many nieces and nephews.
Her family and friends will miss her wit, sense of humor, giving nature and guidance.
A celebration of life will be held at the Conesville Chapel at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 22, with the Rev. Dottie Morris officiating. Nancy requested no flowers, but that you show your love by supporting the organizations she loved including the Conesville Chapel, Conesville Rescue Squad and Catskill Area Hospice.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.
