Paul Stephen's Story
CARY, N.C. - Paul Stephen Brackett, loving husband and father, was reunited with his Savior on June 17, 2017, following a sudden illness.
He was born to Norma and Dickson Brackett on Aug. 11, 1958, in Louisville, Kentucky.
He moved to Oneonta at the age of seven. He was raised in a Bible-believing family of many generations. At age 15, Paul asked Jesus into his heart. He was baptized when he was 18.
He graduated from Oneonta High School and earned a degree in geography at State University College at Oneonta.
He worked for IDI Inc. in Armonk and resided in Danbury, Connecticut, for several years. While he was living in Danbury, he served as a youth leader at Newtown Christian Church.
He moved to Houston, Texas and worked for Synercom Technology Inc. This job brought him to Panama on business where he fell in love with Holly Foxworth who later became his wife. Holly and Paul worked together for Synercom Technology Inc. after their marriage and traveled the world as a consulting team. They returned to Houston, Texas where they gave birth to their first child after a 10-month stint in England. Altogether they had four wonderful children named Christy, Jenny, Julie and Travis.
They moved to Cary, North Carolina, in 1992. They joined Salem Baptist Church in the spring of 1994. Paul was involved over the years in several ministries at Salem, including the extended session toddler care, VBS, Royal Ambassadors, teaching adult singles and sixth grade SS classes and teaching the occasional Discipleship training classes as necessary.
Paul's work continued to take him all over the world. During his 15-year employment with ABB Inc., he earned his master's degree at Cambridge University in Cambridge, England. In addition, Paul graduated from the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) ABB Senior Leadership Development Program 2013 in Lausanne, Switzerland. He was the regional manager for the North American and South American Operations Development Group.
Paul is predeceased by his son, Travis; and his father, Dickson Brackett. He leaves behind his lovely wife, Holly; and his three beautiful daughters, Christy, Jenny and Julie; his mother, Norma Brackett; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Cathy, Daryl and Jennibeth and Les; and a large, extended family on both sides.
Paul was a brilliant, interesting and unique man who was loved by many. He will be sorely missed.
