Phyllis Dibble Howes

RESTON, Va. - Phyllis Dibble Howes passed away peacefully on April 12, 2019, in Reston, Virginia. She was 92 years young. The cause of death was complications of dementia.
Phyllis was born on March 25, 1927, to Clarence and Ruth Dibble and was a lifelong resident of Sidney Center.
She graduated from Sidney High School in 1944. Before marriage, she worked at several local businesses (Keith Clark, Sidney Building Supplies).
She married William Howes on Feb. 18, 1950, when she began her lifelong career as a homemaker and mother.
Phyllis enjoyed raising her two sons, gardening and playing the piano and organ at the local Methodist Church. She was a driving force in the establishment of the Sidney Center Historical Society (now named the Maywood Historical Group of Sidney Center).
She spent the last 16 months of her life in a reminiscence home in Reston, Virginia. Even though the ravages of dementia were overtaking her mind and body during her time in Reston, she was still able to provide inspiring entertainment for her friends at Sunrise Assisted Living by playing the piano for them on several occasions
Phyllis was predeceased by her husband of more than 60 years, William; her father, Clarence Dibble and mother, Ruth Dibble; and sisters, Roberta Warfield and Jeanne Usas.
She has completed her journey on this earth and is with her loved ones in a much better place.
Phyllis is survived by her sons, Randy Howes of Sidney Center and Michael Howes (wife, Barbara) of Sterling, Virginia; grandchildren, Jennifer Eggleston (Connor) of Warrenton, Virginia and Christopher Howes (Jessica) of Remington, Virginia; and two great-grandchildren, Abigail Eggleston and Zoey Howes. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Richard Usas, Barbara Warfield, Ronald Usas and Robin Patsey.
She will be missed by all of us and her close friends.
Interment will be in the Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla, at a later date. A private graveside service will follow.
Contributions may be made in her memory to either the Alzheimer's Association or Maywood Historical Group of Sidney Center.
