Phylllis J.'s Story
DUANESBURG - Phyllis J. Van Voorhis, 85, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017, at Albany Medical Center, following a short illness.
Phyllis was born in Schenevus, daughter of the late John and Leta Palmer and was the devoted wife of the late Edgar Van Voorhis to whom she was married for 29 years.
Phyllis resided in Duanesburg for 55 years and worked for Central National Bank of Duanesburg for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Duanesburg Historical Society, Quaker Street Knitting Group, Duanesburg Seniors and the Senior Meal Site.
Phyllis was a longtime member of the Duanesburg Presbyterian Reformed Church. She served on the "women in the church" and foreign missions committees. She was also active in the women's bible studies through the years.
She is survived by her sister, Janice (Bill) Ellis of Oneonta; her children, John (Patricia) Van Voorhis of North Bennington, Vermont, David (Jill) Van Voorhis of Houston, Texasx and Carol (Gary) Lundberg of Cherry Valley, Illinois. Phyllis is also survived by seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call from noon to 3 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 27, at the Duanesburg Presbyterian Reformed Church. Funeral services will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in the spring in Maple Grove Cemetery, Worcester.
