Richard 'Ricky' William's Story
MARGARETVILLE - Richard "Ricky" William Powell, 61, of Grand Gorge, passed away Dec. 13, 2017.
Ricky was born in Margaretville on Oct. 18, 1956, to Richard "Dick" Powell and Mary O'Hara-Powell.
He graduated Grand Gorge High School in 1974.
After high school he worked on a local farm and then worked hauling milk for Dean Peters.Ricky and Dean then traveled cross-country to various states delivering loads.Ricky purchased his own truck and hauled milk himself from Worcester Creamery. From 1984 to 2002, Ricky drove truck for M.B. Stryker, hauling milk out of the Roxbury Creamery. From 2002 until his passing, Ricky drove truck for Benjamin Brothers in Arkville. Ricky loved driving truck, a pleasure he spent his whole life doing.
He is survived by his father, Richard "Dick" Powell of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; three brothers, David Powell of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Greg Powell of Maryland, and Daniel Powell of Gilboa; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his mother, Mary O'Hara Powell, who passed in 1991; and sister, Vickie Powell-Fullington, in 2016.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
