CRESTVIEW, Fla. - Richard "Dick" Kelsey of Crestview, Florida, died June 29, 2017, at the age of 68.
Richard was born Sept. 2, 1948, in Oneonta, to Monty and Geraldine Kelsey. Richard spent his early years in Upstate New York and graduated from Oneonta High School.
The next 20 years of Richard's life were spent raising a son and daughte,r mainly as a single father, and serving his country in the United States Air Force, including time spent in the Vietnam War. With each of these important parts of Richard's life, he had a special gift of delicately balancing strong discipline, teaching and love for all the people he impacted in his life.
After Richard's retirement from the Air Force in 1988 he went on to receive an accounting degree from Delaware State College.
Richard then served as an accountant for Luther Towers Retirement Home in Dover, Delaware for more than 15 years, where his spirit and personality were loved by all, young and old.
In 2005 Richard married Vonda Pingleton, and the couple spent 12 loving years together, taking care of each other along the way.
Richard will be loved and missed by his many friends and family, including wife, Vonda; son, Shaun; daughter, Misty; brother, Dave; mother, Geraldine; and four granddaughters, Julia, Hannah, Rachel and Sammie.
He is predeceased by his father, Monty.
At Richard's request, no services were held.
