DECATUR - Richard F. Mravlja was born in Decatur, on July 9, 1932.
He could be seen wearing his Agway baseball hat while working the family farm until he retired at the age of 70. If you couldn't find him on the farm, he was at the East Worcester Fish and Game Club on the boat fishing with his grandchildren.
He loved deer hunting, tending to his vegetable garden, snowmobiling, and square dancing with his wife, Connie.
Rich could fix anything with baler twine and WD-40. Rich had the patience of a saint, the strength of an ox, and a heart of gold.
On Aug. 28, 2017, at the age of 85, Rich peacefully passed away surrounded by his family.
Rich is survived by his wife, Connie Mravlja; his children, Jill Close (Ten Eyck), Bill Close and wife Jennifer, and Matthew Close and wife Tiernan; his grandchildren, Bethany Spiro and husband, Jordan, Richard Stein, Billy Close, and Max, Charlotte, and Nora Close; his sister, Dorothy Vroman; and brother, George Mravlja; and his nieces and nephews, Michelle Davis, Michael Vroman, George and Peter Mravlja, and Tina Schoeberl. We love you, we miss you, and toast to your wonderful life with Black Velvet and ginger ale.
