MOUNT VISION - Robert M. Tilley, 87, of Mount Vision, passed away on Nov. 19, 2017, at Chase Nursing Home in New Berlin.
Robert was born on April 2, 1930, the only child of the late Leon Tilley and Lillian Hoose Hickling.
On Sept. 2, 1951. Robert married the former Constance Grosslinger.
Robert was a man of many talents and interests. For many years he was the owner and operator of Tilley's Garage in Mount Vision. His true passion was in fire service. In August 1947, he became a charter member of the Mount Vision Fire Department. Throughout his years with the fire service, he served as chief, fire commissioner, state fire instructor and was one of the first dispatchers in Otsego County. Additionally, on June 6, 1964, he became a member of the Laurens Masonic Lodge No. 548 where he held the title of past master.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Constance; children, Deborah (Henry) Green of Cooperstown, Paula (Robert) Robinson of Mount Vision, Robert W. (Jeanette) Tilley of Marietta, Georgia and Jeffrey (Laurie) Tilley of Mount Vision; grandchildren, Kimberly Wilkerson, Megan (Justin) Lindberg, Natalie Smith, Jesse Tilley and Shalyn Tilley; great-grandchildren, Breana Lopez, Lillian Izzy Lindberg and Weston Lindberg; brother-in-law and his wife, Willy (Solveig) Grosslinger and niece, Tina Grosslinger. Robert also leaves behind many cousins.
A Celebration of Robert's life will be held at 2 p.m., Dec. 2, at the Mount Vision United Methodist Church, 2343 State Highway 205, Mount Vision, with Pastor Richard Howard officiating.
