SHARON SPRINGS - Ron Dorsch, 68, a resident of Sharon Springs since 1999, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Cooperstown Center, surrounded by his family.
Ron was born in the Bronx on Nov. 17, 1949, son of the late Robert and Doris (Black) Dorsch.
He grew up in White Plains and was a graduate of Concordia Prep in Bronxville.
Ron was a longtime IT tech for IBM in White Plains before retiring and relocating to Sharon Springs.
Ron proudly served his country during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 70 and earned several medals, including a Purple Heart.
Ron was kind, giving and had a big heart. He lived his life to the fullest through simple pleasures. His favorites were spending time with his family and being called "grandpa."
Ron is survived by his wife, Wendy; his children, Jason (Jennifer) Dorsch of Worcester, Kristin (Cody) Baciuska of Cobleskill; stepdaughter, Shannon (Ken) Howard of Delhi; five cherished grandchildren, Madison, Lily, Eli, Keith and Collin; brother, Robert Dorsch of Danbury, Connecticut; sister, Deborah (Steven) Handelsman of Harrison; sisters-in-law, Regina Ofiero and Betty Eveleno, both of Danbury; nine nieces and nephews; and nine great-nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by two brothers, Stephen and Richard; and a sister-in-law, Shirley (Neu) Dorsch.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
