ONEONTA - Sheila R. Wiedeman, 90, of Oneonta passed away Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, in Oneonta, following an extended illness.
She was born in London, England, on Oct. 8, 1927, the daughter of Charles and Grace (Pettengell) Lack.
She was a World War II bride, marrying Staff Sergeant Frederick Wiedeman, USAF, on July 22, 1945.
After settling in the USA, she was a homemaker and raised six children. Sheila was a full-time mom and her children were always her top priority.
She was multi-talented and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, painting ceramics and her flower gardens. She loved feeding the animals and birds in her backyard and was very fond of all her neighbors.
Sheila was predeceased by her husband, Frederick on Nov. 27, 2001; and son, Corporal Robert A. Wiedeman, USMC, Vietnam, Feb. 25, 1968.
She is survived by sons, Rick (Mary) Weideman, Steven (Pam) Wiedeman; daughters, Susan Pizza, Barb (Bob) Purcell, Janet (Mike) Parent; grandchildren, Shelley, Darrin, Stacey, Doug, Guy, Frances and Stephanie; as well as several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 12, at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, during which time friends are welcome to call.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 13, in the funeral home with the Rev. Stephen Fournier officiating.
Burial will be private in the Glenwood Cemetery, Oneonta.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sheila's memory may be made to the local Salvation Army Red Kettle Drive, 25 River St., Oneonta, NY 13820, or the charity of one's choice.
