SOUTH MONTROSE, Pa. - Sylvia Louise (Hobbs) Secord, 90, of South Montrose, Pennsylvania, formerly of Oneonta, passed away peacefully on Jan. 31, 2018, at Gracious Living Estates.
She was born July 14, 1927, to the late Leon B. and Lena Hazel (Snyder) Hobbs in Owego. The family later moved to Oneonta, where she attended and graduated from Oneonta High School. Sylvia raised her five children in Binghamton. In the summer months, her family frequently visited her parents' vacation home in Cape Vincent where they made many happy memories in the Thousand Islands region.
In 2002, she moved back to Oneonta to be closer to her sisters who all resided in the area. They shopped, lunched and played cards together each week, enjoying each other's company in their later years.
Sylvia liked to watch financial news and kept a careful eye on the stock market. She loved scratch-off lottery tickets and making occasional trips to the casino to play the slot machines and often came home a winner.
Sylvia loved her family and appreciated their visits and phone calls. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren.
