Terry R. Clancy

COOPERSTOWN - Terry R. Clancy, 71, died May 21, 2019, on his property in Texas as the result of an accident.
Terry was born in Cooperstown, on Oct. 1, 1947, to Joseph and Bertha Mae Clancy.
He graduated from Cooperstown High School in the Class of 1966 and thereafter served his country in the U.S. Navy.
After his discharge, he attended SUNY Delhi, where he received a degree in engineering.
In 1977, Terry moved to Texas and took up residence in the Parker County area. He enjoyed his life breeding and raising Longhorn cattle and working his land.
Terry was married to Janie Thomas and they shared 31 years together.
When his Texas family and friends paid tribute to him they said, "Terry was one of the kindest people you could ever meet. He had friends from New York to Texas and he will be sorely missed.
Terry is survived by Janie and her two sons, Eric (Wendy) Farrell of Weatherford, Texas and Tyler (Gina) Farrell of Kennedale, Texas; and by Janie's grandchildren, who he considered his own, Caden, Calli and Andrew. He is also survived by his brother, Brian (Kathy) Clancy of Cooperstown and two nephews, Stephen (Heather) Clancy and Richard Clancy.
In keeping with Terry's approach to life, a casual but welcoming celebration will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday Aug. 11, at the Village of Cooperstown's Fairy Spring Park located on the Otsego Lake, just north of Lakewood Cemetery, at 136 County Road 31. While the family hopes you can come and share your memories (and any pictures you may have) at this informal gathering, they primarily look forward to your presence.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Terry's memory to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049.

Terry had a great sense of humor. He was in my sister's class in school. My condolences to the family.
